The job market is undergoing significant change: The currently weak economic environment is leading to a decline in job openings, while ongoing digitalization is noticeably shifting expectations for employees. This is particularly evident for career starters. “AI has visibly arrived in the German job‑entry phase, but more gradually than abruptly,” says Fabian Schmidt, Partner AI & Data Analytics at Porsche Consulting. “With AI, the requirements for young professionals are changing.”

“Companies today increasingly expect young talent to bring basic digital or AI‑related skills and are adjusting entry‑level tasks accordingly,” Schmidt explains. This is also creating new opportunities, especially for those who actively engage with digital technologies and AI. “Anyone who brings these capabilities gains a clear advantage.”
